A Message From the Director

Burnt Mountain Center (BMC) has provided 50+ years of service to the citizens of North Georgia since its establishment in 1973. BMC is very pleased with its track record in the provision of quality services to individuals with developmental disabilities and to their families.

Burnt Mountain Center’s employees are a dedicated group of people who provide a supportive environment for all individuals served that affords opportunities for them to grow as they make choices and decisions regarding their lives.

Burnt Mountain Center continues to challenge itself by looking for new and inventive ideas and/or methods that will enhance the quality of life for our participants and their families.

Our mission is to elevate their quality of life by delivering specialized support services that nurture independence and cultivate positive, fulfilling experiences within the community. Our dedicated team, comprised of skilled direct support professionals, goes above and beyond traditional care to establish customized environments for our individuals. Our Programs

Experience Center

The experience center is an in-house learning center focused on teaching developmentally disabled adults everyday skills, such as counting money, telling time, table manners, job skills, basic math, reading, research, computer skills, social skills, and much more! Training topics depend on individual goals.

Activity Center

The activity center is an in-house learning center focused on teaching developmentally disabled adults skills based on their current interests, such as beadwork, arts and crafts, computer skills, social skills, color recognition, drawing, coloring, and much more. Training topics are based on individuals interests and goals.

Direct Support Professionals That Care

Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) deliver personalized services to individuals based on their specific goals and needs, all within the familiarity of their own homes or apartments. Our support extends beyond residential facilities, encompassing a variety of assistance such as personal care, medical maintenance, meal preparation, home care responsibilities, and other individualized needs, ensuring a tailored approach to each person’s unique circumstances.

We Offer a Wide Range of Activities

Each year, Burnt Mountain Center enjoys a field day at our local parks. They compete in different events, including the softball throw, the 100-meter dash, the long jump, and others. They have a lot of fun!

Spa Days

At BMC, Fridays are meant as a way to socialize and have fun. After a long week of work, individuals have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, such as yard sales, sports, shopping, outdoor activities, and much more.

Parties

At BMC, we give 3 parties yearly. We have a Valentine dance, Spring Fling, and a Halloween Party. We have a live band, lots of dancing and good food.

Once a year we have a formal dance, where our clients choose a BMC Prom King and Queen.

BMC has monthly dances/movies and lunch at a local restaurant.

Apply for Expert Disability Support Services

Within our disability support services, we offer a diverse array of options for individuals to select from. Our programs are designed with a focus on providing comprehensive support for those with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities. Aimed at fostering happiness, enrichment, and independence to the fullest extent possible, these programs are tailored to assist individuals with disabilities in leading fulfilling lives on their own terms.

To apply for services, please visit the link below to fill out an application for the NOW/COMP waiver. This application should be filled out and sent to the state by an individual’s 17th birthday, or as soon as possible. This application determines eligibility for services that will help an individual with developmental disabilities attain job and life skills in addition to becoming integral parts of their communities.

Top-Tier Individual Services

Community Access Services are designed to assist the individual in acquiring, retaining, or improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills required for active community participation and independent functioning. These services are provided in either community-based or CAG facility-based CAG settings. Community Access Group services are provided to groups of five.

Supported Employment Individual services are provided to an individual in a one-to-one ratio.

Community Living Support (CLS) services are individually tailored supports that assist with the acquisition, retention, or improvement of skills related to an individual’s continued residence in his or her own family home. Personal care or assistance may be a component of CLS services, but it may not compromise the entirety of the services. CLS services are offered to individuals who live in their own or family home.

Community Access Individual – CAI is a service based on a 1 to 1 ratio out in the community. Clients choose their activity and BMC provides the transportation and support to make their activity a remembering experience.
